Alrighty. I don't really do articles, but I have been getting annoyed this week.
What I find fascinating around the vine is this intense need for posters to be placed in very strict party line boxes. And if someone doesn't fall in line with that, everyone freaks out.
This week I have been accused of being both a Tea Party Republican and a Fascist Liberal.
When I was accused of being an extreme liberal the quote was, "I'll bet you have never once supported a republican thing on the vine, and you have never voted republican!"
When I was accused of being a staunch republican the quote was, "No Liberal would ever stand up for this! You're sure as hell not a democrat!"
well by golly. Its amazing how by voicing an opinion on one issue, everyone thinks they know that persons ENTIRE stance on ALL issues.
Now there are viners I don't get along with, and who I have gotten to know pretty well over the years. But even one of the most consistently extreme right wing people on here that I know manages to surprise me once in a while with a very liberal minded opinion.
Here is the deal people. I am a registered democrat. But I do not need a party ideology telling me what to think. Most of the time I fall in with the democrats. Sometimes I do not. Its called "thinking for yourself" something which apparently has not caught on over the whole crowd.
I am pro-choice, an artist, an anti-religion atheist, pro-union, anti-big business, a supporter of green energy, a feminist.
I am also against gun control, pro militia, against government sanctioning our personal lives, and a supporter of immigration reform.
So what is it? What is the OBSESSION with needing to put other people into a neat little box where you can tie up the bow and put it in the corner then ignore the discussion because YOU have decided what THEY are? I thought the point of newsvine was to have a damn discussion about things. Not to ignore someone because they believe in some ideology, or to automatically choose the side of your favorite party.
Learn to think for yourself. And if you can't, then at least understand that other people do, and don't believe in your political ideology voodoo.
